Easter on the Hill

By Terra Wolfe

The swing creaks percussion
behind flutes of children's laughter.

Splashing clarinets of fish just caught
are answered by trumpets of exclamation.

Cello and viola
hold a lazy melody
of sun and wine
in quiet conversation
Pauses
to a run of wind through the leaves
or a blackbird's call.
