The Fourth Chakra

The Heart Chakra or Anahata (unstruck) in Sanskrit is the energy area of pure unconditional love. It is located in the upper chest.

This is not the area of sexual or romantic attachment described in the Naval Chakra. This is the love force area that is non personal. It is the energy of divine love. Compassion, forgiveness informed by self acceptance and self love are qualities of this chakra.

This love force infuses and empowers all of the other chakras. It is the love of mankind. It is without condition or expectation. It is the primary universal energy.

In balance, this chakra flows with the natural love and wonder of a happy child. This is the force of connection with the divine, the Creator.

Out of balance there is a great feel of lack, of need, of painful separation from the creative force.

The heart chakra is the center chakra and forms the link between the physical chakras one through three and the spiritual chakras four through seven. It is part of each system.

Out of balance, this chakra will influence the other chakras as lack of blood affects any organ. Its function is diminished. The importance of balance in this area cannot be over-emphasized.

The availability of universal, unconditional love needs to be constant and flowing. The physiological function of this area concerns the heart, lungs and circulatory system.

The Chakra's color is a rich, emerald green.

Gemstones colored green apply to this chakra, like: emerald, tourmaline, or malachite Keep the color vivid and wear the gem right on the chakra, perhaps on a chain that falls on the heart.

Gems worn at this chakra help us get in touch with love and compassion.
