Second Chakra
The Naval,
in Sanskrit, Svadhisthana (sweetness) is located above the root chakra
in the lower abdomen it is associated with healthy sexuality, desire and
pleasure. This chakra's energy is reproduction and sexual connection.
This is the Chakra that connects you outward toward a mate. This is also
the area that connects you to the generations in time through your
children.
It is a high energy area, brimming with life force. Partnerships are
formed here that reach beyond social bonds to the physical need for a
mate.
The mating issues here are physical and emotional bonding sufficient to
form the intense personal loyalty from which a family can be nurtured in
safety and with devotion.
When fully functional, this area seeks and protects a sexual bond that
forms a strong unit, builds a home, keeps it safe and nurtures a family.
When dysfunctional, this area leads to feelings of loneliness, being
sexually deprived or even to promiscuity for its own sake because of
inability to bond. Guilt, emotional numbness, fear of pleasure, a lack
of nurturing abilities and feelings of disconnection from other people
can also be a symptom of dysfunction here.
This chakra is often downgraded in importance because of cultural taboos
around sexual issues. Yet it is a vital area and one which can result in
severe dysfunction with serious life consequences, if neglected.
The physical function of this body exists in the reproductive
organs.
This Chakra's color is a juicy bright
orange.
Gemstones
colored orange apply to this chakra, like: carnelian, coral,
agate, topaz, or amber.. Keep the color vivid and wear the gem right on
the chakra, perhaps on a belt.
Gems worn at this chakra help us ground and get in touch with healthy
emotions and sexuality.
