Third Chakra

The Solar Plexus or Manipura (lustrous Jewel) in Sanskrit, is the area dealing with the power of individual will. It is located between the waist and the bottom of the breast.

This chakras energy is toward influencing the environment in which one lives. It is the energy of the individual acting on the world.

It is a space of action rather than reaction. In healthy balance it allows social interaction in assertive self awareness.

The solar plexus is the physical area of creativity. It is the exercise of one's personal energy upon the earth plane. It brings vitality, strength of purpose and personal strength to your energy.

When dysfunctional, this chakra is the energy source for insecurity. Self esteem is low and you can lack vitality. This insecurity can manifest in many ways, the most common are: extreme aggression to exert control over life or extreme passivity, allowing others to control power in one's life.

These control centered behaviors represent many of the more difficult challenges in the action areas of life. Physiologically, this chakra is associated with the digestive system and with the muscles.

This Chakra's color is a golden yellow.

Gemstones colored golden yellow apply to this chakra, like: topaz citrine quartz, tiger eye, or yellow sapphire. Keep the color vivid and wear the gem right on the chakra, perhaps on a long chain.
